Software Development Lead
Join our Crew to build the #1 racing experience for true racers!
Simucube is a game-changer in the world of sim racing and simulators.
At the heart of Hervanta, Tampere, our skilled and warm-hearted team of 60 professionals creates products known for their top performance and high quality. With exciting projects underway and a steadily growing software team of 13 developers, we are now looking for a new colleague to step in as the Software Development Lead.
Are you ready to combine coordination and planning with technical expertise, helping us build world-class products while keeping our software development running smoothly?
The role in a nutshell:
- This is a full-time, permanent role.
- We are based in Hervanta, Tampere. While we offer flexible working arrangements, we enjoy being together in the office and expect this role to have a regular on-site presence.
- The salary range is 4800–6000 €/month. The final offer will be based on the competence and experience you bring with you.
- This recruitment process is anonymous (read more).

As our Software Development Lead, you’ll take on a pivotal new role in our organization. This gives you the opportunity to shape how our software team works and grows.
You will stay close to development yourself while also making sure the team has clear priorities, realistic schedules and the support they need to succeed. You will act as the connector between project needs and the software team. Your job is to keep the big picture in mind, break down features into manageable tasks, and keep progress on track, all while contributing directly to the codebase.
Our software team currently consists of 13 developers, and it has been growing steadily – with more growth ahead.
The team covers the full spectrum of software development: from firmware and device-near programming to PC software, UI/UX design and broader system development. You’ll work in particularly close collaboration with our Product Manager and Software Architect, while supporting and guiding the whole development team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinate and prioritize software projects across a range of technologies, including embedded C++ firmware, Windows desktop applications and Python testing scripts, while ensuring clear goals, realistic schedules and smooth progress.
- Following development progress closely and supporting the team in solving daily challenges.
- Break down features into manageable tasks, aligning them with team members’ strengths and keeping the big picture in mind
- Support day-to-day development through clear specifications, bug tracking, and efficient communication; while keeping meetings light so developers can focus on coding
- Define quality standards, mentor less experienced developers, and improve our processes to make work more efficient
We believe this role will suit you if you:
- Bring several years of hands-on software development experience from demanding projects, ideally including large-scale ones.
- Can see the big picture, set priorities, and keep projects on track even when challenges arise
- Are familiar with backlog and task management tools such as Azure DevOps
- Enjoy supporting colleagues, whether it’s clarifying specs, guiding juniors, or improving team practices
- Work in a proactive and structured way, with the ability to balance multiple priorities under pressure.

In return, we offer you
- People-first culture: a range of well-being benefits, including a paid 30-minute mid-day stroll daily, bicycle benefit, €400/year well-being allowance (sports, culture, wellness), extensive occupational healthcare, and access to high-quality sports equipment for borrowing.
- Flexibility and freedom: flexible working hours and hybrid work options. You’ll also have access to quality tools and software, and yes, you can use our equipment (including 3D printers) for your own hobby or DIY projects.
- Continuous learning: support for professional growth, training programs, and access to literature of your choice. We want every team member to keep developing their skills.
Throughout the recruitment and onboarding process, we’ll take time to understand your interests and strengths – together we’ll shape a role in the project that truly excites you.
