As the Test Engineer, you’ll play a key role in…
This is a new role at Simucube, giving you the opportunity to build and shape how testing is done across both product development and production. You’ll work hands-on with prototypes, factory testers, and firmware updates, while also building the foundation for long-term test strategies. Over time, this position can evolve into Test Manager responsibilities as our testing function grows.
You’ll be part of our R&D team, collaborating closely with the Project team and Project Manager to align testing with development milestones. You’ll also have the support of our software, mechanical, and electronics engineers, ensuring you can tackle challenges from multiple angles and deliver robust solutions.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Defining test requirements for production by creating specifications that guide tester development with partners and ensure reliable manufacturing
- Testing product development prototypes and firmware updates, with opportunities to automate and improve test processes.
- Taking ownership of factory testers: knowing which testers are in use, maintaining them, managing updates, and resolving basic issues independently.
- Troubleshooting and reproducing issues to support developers in identifying and fixing problems.
- Running and improving production tests, reporting bugs, and coordinating fixes with PMs and engineers.
- Maintaining and organizing the testing environment, hardware, and tools to keep testing efficient and reliable.
- Contributing to long-term testing strategy and growing toward a more strategic or managerial role as the testing function expands.
We believe this role will suit you if you:
- Have strong hands-on technical skills and enjoy working directly with PCBs, firmware, and hardware/software systems
- Bring Python expertise for automating and extending test setups and ideally have experience with automated test systems.
- Have electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills and can isolate and resolve hardware/software integration issues.
- Are systematic and organized, able to manage multiple testers, environments, and updates.
- Understand embedded systems testing or have a background in electronics or firmware testing.
- Enjoy being both a doer and a problem-solver and are curious to grow into strategic planning and leadership in testing.
In return, we offer you:
People-first culture: We care about your well-being. That’s why we encourage regular breaks during the workday and offer a paid 30-minute mid-day stroll to recharge. You’ll also enjoy a bicycle benefit, a €400/year well-being allowance (covering sports, culture, and wellness), extensive occupational healthcare, and access to high-quality sports equipment for borrowing.
Flexibility and freedom – We trust you to manage your time. Enjoy flexible working hours and hybrid work options. You’ll have access to top-notch tools and software, and yes, you’re welcome to use our equipment (including 3D printers) for your own hobby or DIY projects.
Continuous learning – We support your growth. From training programs to literature of your choice, we want every team member to keep developing their skills and stay curious.
